HONOR 70 5G has arrived. It is the successor of the excellent HONOR 50 5G which, for those who do not have too much memory, is the smartphone that has decreed the restart of the brand in the European market. This is a mid-range product that surprises compared to what all the other brands did in this troubled 2022, both for excellent quality on various aspects, and for a level photographic sector, without considering the launch promotion available, however, until only on 8 September.
Design & Ergonomics
HONOR 70 5G looks very good aesthetically thanks to the materials, glass, and aluminum, and to the design with soft lines and curves, present on the side edges both rear and front, on the display.
The screen is a 6.67 “OLED type with a 120 Hz (dynamic) refresh rate of great quality both in the viewing angles, the color rendering, and the brightness which is more than satisfactory to be used even in direct sunlight. Sun.
The feeling of a quality product is evident and net of the design, which may or may not is liked, it is a really well-finished device.
In the multimedia field, the only pity is that the audio in speaker playback is only mono, that is, it comes out exclusively from the lower main capsule, a truly inexplicable lack that clashes with an overall quality product like this.
Overall, the system is fluid and extremely responsive, it works well and has no major compromises net of narrow features and some pre-installed apps more than usual, which, however, can be uninstalled.
This is thanks to the hardware features that are fully from mid-range smartphones. Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G + processor, 8 GB of RAM, 128 or 256 GB of internal memory, all you need to offer performance in the face of not particularly high consumption.
The connectivity side is equipped with Bluetooth 5.2, WiFi 6, and USB Type-C 2.0, then it has two slots for SIMs but not eSIM.
If you’ve ever owned an Honor or Huawei smartphone , the software will once again be extremely familiar to you. In fact, the company has not yet changed the graphical interface and all in all it is still identical to that of a few years ago, except for some small adaptations. The base is Android 12 while the interface is called Magic UI 6.1, version 7.0 will soon arrive which, however, once again should not represent so much a graphical disruption as it is functional, creating the basis for a new interconnected ecosystem.
Negative note is the fact that you no longer have a setting available to set the swipe down on the home screen to open the notification curtain, even if until a few versions ago the Magic UI was available. In place, only the global search has the advantage of running between contacts, applications, notepads, calendars, and settings. Instead, the quick link to scan a QR Code is convenient.
Some new features are present in the camera application with a dedicated mode that takes advantage of artificial intelligence.
In terms of updates, it will receive 2 Android updates and 3 years of security patches, up to Android 14 in short, unless HONOR decides to support it for a third major update having all the cards on the table to support it.
Battery & Autonomy
HONOR 70 5G has a 4800 mAh battery with 66W fast charging support with HONOR Super Charge technology . As we said, the processor is well balanced and for this reason the consumption is not particularly intense, totaling about 5-6 hours of screen on during a classic day of use.
